Electric Utility Information
The City of Medicine Hat Electric Utility generates, transmits and distributes electricity to all customers within the City of Medicine Hat, and outlying rural areas adjacent to the city. While the Electric Utility buys and sells electricity via a physical connection to the Alberta Transmission System, we are not part of the Alberta Interconnected Electrical System. Although customer choice is part of our future vision, we are not currently affected by deregulation in the industry affecting customer choice or rights to electric generation.
Gas Utility Information
The City of Medicine Hat Utilities Services Division provides the safe, reliable delivery of electricity, clean and efficient-burning natural gas, high quality drinking water, as well as wastewater collection and treatment, solid waste collection, and recycling and composting for area residents, business and industries.
Utility Billing Information
The City is divided into 20 sections called cycles. Each cycle is read on a different day of each month. Your utility bill is calculated, printed and mailed to you two working days after your meters are read. As a result, the time of the month you receive your bill will depend on where you live in the City and will be about the same date each month.
