MEDICINE HAT BRIEF:
Medicine Hat is known as the "oasis in the prairies" with more than 100 parks located through the City as well as an extensive environmental reserve. Eighty kilometres of trails provide the opportunity for walking, jogging, cycling and cross-country skiing. Situated in the Palliser Triangle, Medicine Hat boasts mild winters and warm summers for this part of the prairies.
The City offers a high quality of life, with numerous recreational facilities including quality country club golf courses, a new leisure centre, sports fields and provincially known campgrounds. Cultural facilities and special points of interest include the Medicine Hat Museum & Art Gallery, City Hall, a historic downtown complete with gas lamp street lighting, and Exhibition and Stampede Park.
The Palliser Health Authority with its ultra-modern 325 bed hospital provides high quality care and community health services. Approximately 31 family physicians and 47 specialists are practising in Medicine Hat.
Medicine Hat is one of the most highly industrialized cities in Canada on a per capita basis. The people who live and work in Medicine Hat come from a diversified rural agricultural and small business background with good basic work skills, experience with shift work, dedication to training and a strong work ethic
Besides its core business of delivering municipal services to its residents, the City of Medicine Hat owns and operates electric, natural gas, land and environmental utilities that are measured by their ability to create value, relative to market, in attractive rates for ratepayers and dividends to the taxpayers (shareholders).
