KINGSTON BRIEF:
Kingston Ontario, the Limestone City, is one of the most beautiful and historic cities in Canada. With over 100 000 people in the Greater Kingston Area it has all the comforts and services of larger cities with a small-town feel.
Kingston is placed at the mouth of the Cataraqui river, where Lake Ontario meets the St. Lawrence. Originally Fort Frontenac, the town was a strategic military settlement for the French, and then for the English.
Recognized in Report on Business Magazine as one of the five best cities in Canada for business (1996). Kingston has an abundance of parks,Golf courses and Restaurants, Excellent Air Quality Rating and World-class educational and health care facilities.
Kingston is home to three emerging technology areas, Information Technologies and Telecommunications, Health Sciences, and Advanced Materials.
Kingston has three post - secondary institutions, St. Lawrence College, the Royal Military College of Canada and the world renowned Queen's University.
Each summer Kingston hosts CORK, the largest freshwater sailing regatta in North America, and also numerous music, theatre and buskers festivals.
