Government of Newfoundland & Labrador Newfoundland and Labrador is Canada's most easterly province, consisting of the island of Newfoundland and the mainland portion of Labrador.
The island is located in the Gulf of St. Lawrence and the larger Labrador portion is located on the eastern part of the Canadian mainland. Newfoundland and Labrador uniquely blend old world culture with new world convenience.
A beautiful, rugged coastline provides a backdrop for modern amenities and technology. Modern airports, seaports and roads exist among prehistoric land formations and historical sites.
The pace is relaxed in Newfoundland and Labrador. Even in our largest centres, you can usually get to and from work in less than 20 minutes.
When not working we like to be entertained. Our traditional and modern music has strong Irish roots and we support our own symphony orchestra.

PROVINCIAL POLITICAL PARTIES:
Newfoundland & Labrador Liberal Party The Liberal Party in Newfoundland and Labrador has been the dominant political party since confederation in 1949. They have held power for 36 of the last 53 years and are responsible for many of the major social transformations that has occurred in this province in the last half century. With leadership as its trademark, the Liberal Party of Newfoundland and Labrador will continue to shape and influence this province through the strong morals and principles of Liberalism.
Newfoundland & Labrador NDP Youth Change can only occur if you get involved and fight for change. The NDP is not a rich party and it doesn't have the resources to run the slick campaigns that Liberals and Tories use to get elected. We rely on party activism. Getting the word out through word of mouth, talking to people we know, knocking on doors. Big money may control some parties but ultimately we all have our vote, and it's our responsibility to use it wisely and to urge others to do the same. Money should not control the political agenda.
Newfoundland & Labrador Green Party The Terra Nova Greens is the Newfoundland and Labrador chapter of the Green Party of Canada. We believe that we can flourish as a sustainable society only by encouraging environmentally sound use of our earth's resources and careful management of our eco-systems.
Newfoundland & Labrador PC Party Our goal is to grow our economy and provide new job opportunities for Newfoundlanders and Labradorians. Our focus is to put more money in the pockets of those who need it most. We will also target growth in small and medium business, IT, tourism, and the fishery. Focus will also be placed on receiving more benefits from the development of our natural resources.
