Garbage & Recycling
The Metro Vancouver coordinates the long-range planning process for recycling and disposing of solid waste in the Lower Mainland. Metro Vancouver also funds and operates the transfer stations, incinerator and landfills that make up what's known as an integrated waste management process and they also help coordinate the operations of member municipalities.
Water Works
The Water Services Department provides clean, safe drinking water through its member municipalities for over 2.4 million residents in the Lower Mainland. The water comes from rain and snowmelt from the Capilano, Seymour and Coquitlam Watersheds. Our drinking water is treated in modern, world-class drinking water treatment facilities, and meets Health Canada’s standards for quality. Over 30, 000 samples of our water are tested every year.
