Regina, for a city built on a "Pile O' Bones", this provincial capital of almost 200,000 people is a wonderful city. Home of the Roughriders, Regina has to be experienced to be truly appreciated.
Regina is the commercial and financial centre of the province. Since the first pioneers first homesteaded in the early 1880's, local residents have transformed the flat, treeless prairie into a city of shaded parks and streets.
Wascana Centre, is a 920 hectare area in the heart of Regina where the man-made Wascana Lake is situated. The park is the location of the Saskatchewan Legislative Building, the Royal Saskatchewan Museum, the Saskatchewan Center, and the Saskatchewan Science Centre.
Regina became the "Home of the RCMP" in 1885, when the Royal Canadian Mounted Police chose the city as the site of its headquarters.
Regina's Market Square is a 24-block area in downtown Regina with more than 700 retail stores, services, theatres, restaurants and other attractions.
Also downtown is Saskatchewan's largest shopping mall, the Cornwall Centre. The major malls out in the 'burbs, Northgate, Victoria Square and Southland, offer one-stop shopping.
